Russia underlines development of economic ties with Iran

Moscow, Dec 4, IRNA – Chairman of the Russian State Duma on Monday underlined development of economic cooperation with Iran.

'Iran and Russia should strengthen economic relations' within the framework of their parliamentary cooperation, Vyacheslav Volodin said in a meeting with visiting Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday.

Volodin noted that he will pay visit to Iran in the first half of 2018.

During the meeting, the Iranian speaker, for his part, called for boost of all-out ties between the two states.

'Iran and Russia would continue cooperation in fighting terrorism,' he added.

Larijani arrived in the Russian capital, Moscow on Sunday to attend two-day international conference on drug trafficking which was held in the presence of MPs from 44 countries.

According to the Russian Tass News Agency, lawmakers from 44 countries will attend the international conference dubbed 'Parliamentary Members vs. Drugs' that will be held in the State Duma on December 4, State Duma Vice Speaker and head of the United Russia faction Sergey Neverov said at a briefing in the run-up to the forum.
