President Rouhani: Iran favoring secure, powerful region

Zahedan, Dec 2, IRNA – Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday underlined Iran's eagerness for all regional countries to be united and powerful.

While in his tour of Sistan-Balouchistan Province in southeastern Iran, President Rouhani made the remarks addressing a large gathering of people in the city of Zabol.

'We want a secure and powerful region and would like our neighbors to be united,' Rouhani said.

Noting that Iran does not seek to compete with other regional countries on its path to development, the president said that Iran wants to have cordial relations with all regional countries and cooperate with them.

'We don't favor any distance between Iran and Islamic and neighboring countries or the Arab world and the Muslim world as a whole and if a country has distanced from us, it is not our fault,' Rouhani said.

'It is not our fault if princes are in conflict within certain countries and if some countries are bombarding another one for three years and if some supporters of Daesh are upset about the defeat of this group.'
