JCPOA creates opportunities for cooperation of regional partners

Sochi, Dec 1, IRNA – First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri said on Friday that nuclear deal between Iran and 5+1 Group and removal of unfair sanctions in the post-JCPOA era despite the US bad promises have created new opportunities for engagement of Iran's regional partners including member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and emerging economies.

Addressing the 16th Forum of Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) Council of Prime Ministers, he said that Iran is ready for assuming a great part in strengthening regional peace, stability, security and development through promoting collaboration with SCO member states.

'We hold out hand of friendship to all SCO member-states and consider organizational cooperation at the regional and international levels in the interest of all countries, nations as well as governments interested in peace, welfare and security,' Jahangiri said.

Highlighting Iran's special geopolitical situation, capacities and wide-scale natural, human and social resources, the senior official said that today's Iran is defender of peace, stability, development, interaction and dialogue between cultures, nations and ethnic groups.

Jahangiri further noted that the Islamic Republic is prepared take actions to help promote status of the SCO in light of coexistence and strive for creating a world free of violence and extremism, and make serious efforts to help the entity ward off new threats and challenges in the economic, political and cultural arenas.

He further noted that SCO meeting is held at a time when the world and international system are facing new opportunities and threats. On the one hand, joint efforts are underway to create regional complementary capacities and on the other, regional and international economic, trade, political and environmental pacts are being undermined by certain states' unilaterally walking away from them.

The theory of 'commercialization and sale of a commodity in the name of security' has been put into practice by some powers through creating and handling regional crises, Jahangiri said.

Laboratory Takfiri terrorism has gone out of control of its masterminds and sponsors, being a trans-regional and international threat, Jahangiri said, noting that creating crises in the world's geopolitical and geostrategic regions has fanned the flames of insecurity and global arms race.

The project 'creating new Middle East' and splitting up the region's significant and big countries which was initiated by orchestrating Takfiri current of Daesh have been defeated in the wake of God's blessing and resistance of regional nations and cooperation among regional governments, particularly Iran, Russia, Iraq and Syria.

Jahangiri also warned about reorganization of the current and transferring of threat to the other areas such as Central Asia and Caucasus.
