Srpska hails establishing media cooperation with Iran

Belgrade, Nov 29, IRNA - Director of Srpska Republika News Agency (SRNA) Nikola Deretic welcomed maintaining cooperation with Iranian media.

“SRNA was established on April 7, 1992 and is also a member of Association of the Balkan Regional News Agency (ABNA),” Deretic said Tuesday in a meeting with Iranian envoy to Sarajevo Mahmoud Heidari.

He expressed readiness for taking a trip to Iran and visiting Iranian news agencies, especially Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Meanwhile, Heidari referred to the role of media in sharing information among nations.

“IRNA is ready to cooperate with Association of the Balkan Regional News Agency (ABNA) and Bosnia and Herzegovina news agencies,” he added.

The Balkan state news agencies after an initiative by Macedonian Press Agency established the Association of the Balkan News Agencies on June 24-26, 1995 which is based in Thessaloniki.

Members of the Association are Macedonian Press Agency and Athens News Agency from Greece, the bulgarian news agencies Balkan Information Pool and Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, the yugoslav Tanjug, the turkish Anadolou, the Romanian Rompress and the 'Macedonian' Press Bureau form the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The Slovenian Telegraph Agency and the Albanian Telegraph Agency have also expressed their intention to become members of the association.
