Iranian boxer grabs silver in 2017 WAKO World Champs

Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA – Iranian boxer Omid Ahmadi Safa received a silver medal in World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) World Championships 2017 held in Budapest, Hungary.

In low kick category, Ahmadi Safa in the weight category of – 51 kg defeated Russian fighter and bagged a silver medal.

WAKO World Championships 2017 was held on November 3-12 in Hungary.

Kickboxing, a group of stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from Karate and Muay Thai. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport.

A low kick is a kick in which the attacker uses his or her leg to strike the opponent's lower body (thigh or calf) with the shinbone or foot. This type of kick, under different names, is utilized in numerous full-contact martial arts such as karate, kickboxing, lethwei, Muay Thai, and Krav Maga.
