Heavy rain leaves 12 dead in Pakistan’s Karachi

Islamabad, Aug 31, IRNA – At least 12 people were killed and many others were injured in heavy rain related incidents in the Pakistani port city of Karachi.

According to the reports, most of the people killed from electrocution as monsoon rains continue to lash the city.

Commuters face difficulties reaching offices while majority of schools remained closed as the rain, which started late Wednesday night, flooded roads of the metropolis.

According to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), 80 out of 1,600 feeders have been affected by the rain.

Windstorms and rains are expected to lash scattered places of southern and northern parts Pakistan. Meanwhile the recent spell of rain has also caused damaged in different cities of southern Sindh province.

Earlier this month, at least 25 more people lost their lives over heavy rain in Karachi.

Last year in summer, torrential rains left over 200 people dead across Pakistan.
