Iran helps to extinguish Georgian forest fire

Baku, August 30, IRNA - Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze said on Wednesday that Iran's fire fighting choppers are to help Georgia to quell widespread fire in Abastomani forests some 220 kilometers away from west Tbilisi.

A wildfire has erupted Abastumani forest some 220 kilometers away from west of Tbilisi.

Speaking to reporters, he said we are now waiting for arrival of Iranian helicopters and also examining getting an Iranian fire fighting plane to control the fire.

Fire fighting planes from Ukraine and Turkey and Republic of Azerbaijan have arrived Georgia to help them extinguish the fire.

Over 1000 fire fighters are now fighting with the wildfire.
