Iran, Syria review  prospects of solving Syria crisis

Damascus, Aug 30, IRNA – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-Africa Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari in a meeting discussed prospects of solving Syria crisis.

During the Wednesday meeting both sides reviewed the latest political developments.

Jaberi Ansari presented a report on Iran's diplomatic movements to the regional and international parties on Syria.

He pointed to the speed of developments, emphasizing the need to establish continuous consultations among parties.

Meanwhile, al-Assad appreciated Iran's supports for Syria in fighting terrorism.

Syrian president also highlighted the need to develop awareness between Tehran and Damascus.

Syria has been the scene of unrest and terrorist acts since March 2011.

Iran, Russia and Turkey are the initiators of the December 30, 2016 ceasefire in Syria.

The three countries, known as the guarantors of the Syrian ceasefire, have so far held five rounds of talks in Astana to find a way to end the Syrian crisis.
