Kirkuk Council decision to attend referendum, false, provocative

Tehran, Aug 30, IRNA – Kirkuk Provincial Council decision to participate referendum for Kurdistan independence is a false and provocative act, Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Bahram Qasemi said Kirkuk Provincial Council act which is rejected by Iraq's central government, the United Nations and many regional and foreign countries is a dangerous and provocative decision.

The mentioned decision not only brings no solution, but it would affect Iraq's capabilities and capacities to stabilize its victories against terrorism, he said.

Islamic Republic of Iran warns over this false decision which will result in vivid breaching of Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Qasemi noted.

Staying committed to constitutional law and solving problems through negotiations would be the best option for Iraqi people, Qasemi noted.

He went on to say that any measure which result in creating new crisis in the region and for neighboring countries are unbearable.
