Azerbaijani media delegation heading to Iran

Baku, Aug 30, IRNA – A delegation from Azerbaijan's media invited by Tabriz Municipality headed for Iran on Wednesday.

The delegation, comprised of 14 journalists and photojournalists from Azerbaijani television channels and news agencies, are visiting Iran on the occasion of announcing Tabriz as the Muslim world's capital for 2018.

Press attache at Iran's embassy in Baku Mohammad Reza Najafi described the visit as a step forward to enhance the media interaction between the two countries.

Pointing to a recent visit by Iran's Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Hossein Entezami to Azerbaijan, he said that the visit by Azerbaijani delegation is a step towards enhancing media cooperation between the two countries.

Azerbaijan's Xalq newspaper Taher Rostamzade who heads the delegation described the visit as 'a bridge for close ties between the two neighboring countries'.

'Iran has been standing by Azerbaijan throughout its 25-year-old independence from former Soviet Union,' he said, adding that media can play a significant role in boosting bilateral ties between the two countries.
