Envoy: Iran, Zambia enjoy good capacities to expand bilateral ties

Algiers, Aug 29, IRNA – Iran Ambassador to Zimbabwe Ahmad Erfanian, as accredited Ambassador to Zambia, submitted his credentials to President Edgar Lungu on Tuesday.

In a meeting, Erfanian pointed to friendly bilateral relations between the two countries, and said that there are plenty of grounds for mutual cooperation, such as energy, health, agriculture and mine fields and added that Iran is ready to expand its relations with Zambia in all fields.

President Lungu expressed pleasure for expanded friendly ties between the two countries and voiced his desire to promote economic and trade relations.

Zambia with a population of 13 million is located in southeast of Africa and achieved its independence on October 24, 1964.

In 2010, World Bank announced Zambia as one of the countries with fastest pace of economic reforms.

Headquarters of Commonwealth of East and South of Africa (COMESA) is located in Lusaka, capital of Zambia.
