Senior MP calls for Iran-Vietnam cooperation in int'l bodies

Tehran, Aug 29, IRNA – Vice speaker of Iranian parliament Ali Motahari called for Iran-Vietnam cooperation in international bodies, especially on human rights issues.

Motahari made the remarks Tuesday in a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart.

'Western countries use human rights as a tool and they adopt double-standards towards other countries,' he said.

Motahari expressed happiness over exchange of parliamentary delegations between Iran and Vietnam.

Iranian lawmaker pointed to the importance of parliamentary talks, saying meetings between parliamentary friendship groups and expert commissions will result in mutual understanding.

He went on to say that parliamentary relations pave the way for merchants and private sectors' interactions.

Motahari hailed maintaining cooperation with Vietnam in energy, development and promoting banking transactions between two countries.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese lawmaker expressed happiness over his trip to Iran.

The trip aimed at reinforcing parliamentary relations, he added.

Vietnam appreciates Iran's positive efforts in establishing peace and stability in the region, the Vietnamese lawmaker noted.

Vietnam is ready to have cooperation with Iran in economic, Trade, scientific, modern technologies and agricultural fields, taking advantage of new sciences in defense industries, national security fields.
