Tehran, Belgrade enjoy good political ties: Serbian diplomat

Tehran, Aug 29, IRNA – New Serbian ambassador to Iran said here on Monday that Belgrade and Tehran have 'very good political relations at all levels'.

Serbian and Iranian presidents are expected to meet this year as the message of invitation from Belgrade has been presented to the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Dragan Todorovic told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Parliamentary diplomacy is also important for Serbia, Todorovic said while referring to the recent visit of President of the National Assembly of Serbia Maja Gojković to Iran to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the Iranian President on August 5.

In Tehran, Ms Gojković held several meetings with Iran's top parliamentary officials.

About his recent meeting with President Rouhani to present his credentials, Todorovic said he also submitted the message of invitation from Aleksandar Vučić to the Iranian President.

Touching upon the economic issues, the Serbian diplomat said Belgrade is not satisfied with the level of economic cooperation with Tehran, so the two have agreed to expand the current level of economic relations.

'Belgrade has endeavored to remove banking problems to this end, and the Serbian companies are planning to come to Iran,' he added.

Serbian ambassador, heading a media delegation, visited IRNA office in Tehran on Monday.
