Lebanese PM: Lebanon eyes promoting ties with Iran

Beirut, Aug 23, IRNA – Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed on the need to develop relations between Tehran and Beirut.

Hariri made the remarks Tuesday evening in a meeting with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and Africa Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari.

Hariri expressed hope for reinforcing relations between the two countries.

He pointed to Israel and terrorism as two major threats in the region, saying Lebanon maintains neutrality in regional conflicts.

During the meeting, both sides held talks on bilateral ties and on the developments in the region and in Lebanon as well.

Meanwhile, Jaberi Ansari conveyed Iranian first vice President Eshaq Jahangiri and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif greeting to Lebanese PM.

He also underscored Iran's readiness to promote all-out ties with Lebanon during the new Iranian government.

He pointed to negotiations, understanding and political participation as solutions to escape regional crises.

Deputy FM also referred to Lebanon as a good example of national agreement and domestic coexistence.
