Turkey reviewing joint operation with Iran to fight terrorists: Erdoğan

Ankara, Aug 21, IRNA – Turkey is reviewing to launch joint operation with Iran to fight terrorists in Qandil Mountains and Sinjar, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said.

Erdoğan made the remarks Monday in an interview with reporters before his trip to Jordan.

He pointed to Turkey's plan to start operation against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), saying we have a lot in common with Iran in fighting terrorists in the region.

Erdogan also referred to Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri's trip to Turkey, and said, 'We discussed operational measures and diplomatic ties as well.'

He went on to say that PKK has harmed both Iran and Turkey.

The Iranian military delegation held talks with senior Turkish military and political officials during their 3-day stay in Turkey.

Fight against terrorism, regional developments, bilateral defensive relations and border cooperation were among issues discussed in Turkey.
