Developing ties with regional countries top on gov't agenda: Deputy FM

Beirut, Aug 21, IRNA – The 12th government is after promoting relations with regional countries like Lebanon, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-Africa Affairs said.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari made the remarks on Monday in a meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

During the meeting both sides held talks on regional issues, developments in Lebanon and bilateral cooperation.

Ansari conveyed Majlis (Parliament) speaker Ali Larijani greeting to his Lebanese counterpart.

He also appreciated the major role of Lebanon in standing against Zionist Regime occupation and in fighting terrorism.

Ansari presented a report of regional issues and the latest developments of Astana talks on solving the Syria crisis.

Meanwhile, Berri highlighted the need to promote regional cooperation to prevent splitting the regional countries.

During his three-day visit, Ansari held talks with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and he is supposed to hold meeting with Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri, Foreign Minister Gebran Basil, as well as several senior politicians and religious leaders.
