Pakistan eager to enhance ties with Turkey: PM

Islamabad, Aug 21, IRNA -- Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says his country is eager to further enhance ties with Turkey in all fields, especially in the economic sector, state media reported.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Baber Girgin.

The ambassador delivered a letter of felicitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to prime minister on assumption of office.

The prime minister said relations between the two countries are based on shared history, common values and mutual interests.

He noted that the bilateral relations of the two countries have further deepened as well as broadened during the last four years.

Pakistan and Turkey have always maintained long-standing military ties.

Recently Turkish Air Force, aerobatic team the 'Solo Turk' participated in an air show to celebrate 70th independence day of Pakistan.

Pakistan also supported the actions of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government against the failed military coup in the country last year.
