Pakistan jets perform aerobatics to mark 'Independence Day'

Islamabad, Aug 14, IRNA – A spectacular air show was held in Pakistan’s Islamabad to celebrate the country's 71st Independence Day.

The biggest ever air show of the country was, organised by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), featured aircraft of the PAF, as well as aerobatic teams from Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Chief of Air Staff Marshal (ACM) Sohail Aman, senior civil and military officials and foreign diplomats attended the event.

Large number of citizens, including women and children also attended the massive air show.

Jaw dropping aerial display stirred feelings of patriotism among the masses.

Most of the people clad in Pakistan’s traditional green and white colors really enjoyed the air display.

Strict security measures were taken for the air show and the mobile service remained suspended during the air show to avoid any untoward incident.

Despite the hot and humid weather people came to watch the air show with enthusiasm.

The show which lasted for more than an hour started with a bomb burst formation of PAF three Mirage fighter jets. After that the PAF SAAB-2000 air craft made some maneuvers.

The salient feature of the air show was the performances by of “Solo Turk”, the Turkish aerobatic team of the Turkish Air Force and the “Saudi Hawks” of the Royal Saudi Air Force.

JF-17 Thunder fighter jet of PAF also performed in the air show and displayed dangerous maneuvers to excite the public.

Another salient feature of the show was free fall display of Special Services personnel. Helicopters from PAF and Army Aviation also performed during the show.
