Iran, UN exchange views to open Yemen political standoff

Tehran , Aug 12, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari in meeting with the UN special envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh here on Saturday expressed deep concern on humanitarian crisis in Yemen and declared Iran's support for UN efforts to end war in the country.

Ould Cheikh, who is in Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials, met with Jaberi Ansari and discussed issues of mutual interest.

The UN official presented a report on the latest humanitarian situation in Yemen and his recent consultations and efforts to re-mobility in direction of solving the crisis through political means and asked Iran to support the efforts.

Jaberi Ansari declared Iran's support for the UN efforts to end war and crisis in Yemen and announced Iran's proposals for political solution in Yemeni crisis and principles which should be considered in this route.

The two sides also discussed and exchanged views on new ideas to open existing political standoff in Yemen.
