President: Iran assumes Pakistan security its own

Tehran, Aug 7, IRNA -- President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran assumes Pakistan's security in line with its security.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Pakistan's Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani.

Development and improvement of ties with the neighbors are among Iran's top priorities of foreign policy, the President added.

He noted that Tehran will always take side with the Pakistani nation and government.

President Rouhani called for increase of two countries' cooperation to enhance level of security in the region, in particular the joint borders.

Iran and Pakistan development is an important factor in line with boost of regional security, he said.

The President called for execution of mutual contract, adding that Iran is a reliable source of energy for Pakistan.

Connection of Chabahar port in Iran and Gwadar port in Pakistan can boom the region's economy, he noted.

During the meeting, the Pakistan senate chair, for his part, said that Tehran and Islamabad share similar views on regional issues.

Pakistan will spare no effort to enhance all-out relations with Iran, he said.

The official noted that Iran-Pakistan higher border commission will be held in the near future.

'Islamabad is bound to full implementation of agreements with Iran,' he said.
