Islamic World convergence essential in status quo: Speaker

Tehran, Aug 7, IRNA -- Any measure to create convergence in Islamic World is essential in the current tumultuous condition, Majlis (Parliament) speaker Ali Larijani said.

Larijani made the remarks Monday in a meeting with Chairman of Caucasian Muslim Administration Allahshukur Pashazade.

Islamic World is in critical conditions and cultural affiliation will be achieved through negotiations, he said.

An extremist group called Daesh has spoiled Islamic countries' energy and provided opportunity for the enemies, he added.

Larijani stressed on the need to develop economic and trade ties to bring nations closer together.

Addressing the meeting, Pashazade said that it is Muslims' duty to stand against those who misuse Islam.
