Islamic Republic manifestation of religious democracy in world: Judiciary chief

Tehran, Aug 5, IRNA - Islamic Republic has become a manifestation of liberation and religious democracy in the world despite multiple threats from the arrogant powers in the past four decades, Iran's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said on Saturday.

He made the remarks in the inauguration ceremony where the current President Hassan Rouhani was sworn in as president for the second term.

'Participation of over 40 million people in the elections showed the republic principle of the Islamic Republic establishment to the world,' the official added.

President Hassan Rouhani was sworn in as Iran's president for another four-year term in an official ceremony held at the Iranian parliament in Tehran on Saturday evening.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday gave official seal of approval to President Rouhani who won a landslide victory and was re-elected as next president on May 19 presidential election.

Iranian government declared one day holiday in the capital, Tehran to prepare the grounds for presidential inauguration ceremony.

Several foreign guests, heads of states and high-ranking officials, including the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini took part in President's oath-taking ceremony.

Rouhani was re-elected for a second term in office on May 19, for another four years, sweeping over 23 million or 57 percent of the votes.
