Ammar Hakim: Iran, Iraq enjoy strategic ties

Tehran, Aug 5, IRNA -- Head of Iraqi National Alliance Ammar Hakim said Iran and Iraq have strategic relations.

Hakim made the remarks Saturday in an interview with reporters at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.

He appreciated President Hassan Rouhani's role in Iraq's victory against takfiri terrorists group Daesh.

He called for Iran's support in renovating demolished areas in Iraq and also promoting commercial and military relations between Tehran and Baghdad.

Hakim arrived in Tehran today to participate in Rouhani's oath-taking ceremony which is supposed to be held in Tehran within an hour.

Eight presidents, 19 parliament speakers, nine vice presidents and prime ministers, seven parliament vice-speakers, 11 foreign ministers and 35 special envoys from different countries are reportedly attending the ceremony.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei endorsed Rouhani's presidential decree in a ceremony on Thursday.

Rouhani was reelected as president for a second consecutive term in national elections on May 19, securing nearly 57% of the total votes cast.
