Deputy FM confers with Syrian opposition figure

Moscow, August 2, IRNA -- Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari discussed the situation in Middle East, especially Syria, with the Leader of Syria's opposition Popular Front for Change and Liberation Qadri Jamil in Moscow.

During the meeting in the Russian capital, Jamil presented a report on the latest developments of the last round of Syria Peace Conference in Geneva and current talks between Syrian opposition's three platforms, namely the Moscow, Cairo and Riyadh groups.

Reaffirming diplomatic settlement of Syrian crisis, both officials underlined integrity of the country and advocacy of all parties to the Syrian nation’s right in deciding their own country’s destiny.

Meanwhile, Ansari sat down with the Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin on Wednesday to discuss developments in Syria.

They discussed de-escalations zones and the draft of documents under discussion between Tehran, Ankara and Moscow in this regard.

Ansari also had a meeting with his Russian and Iraqi counterparts Mikhail Bogdanov and Nazar Khairallah, respectively on Wednesday.

Jaberi Ansari also met Bogdanov on Tuesday. He arrived in Moscow on Tuesday.

Efforts and initiatives by Iran, Russia and Turkey in Syrian-Syrian talks which is held in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, have so far led to establishing comprehensive ceasefire and de-escalation zones in Syria. Latest developments with these regards will be discussed by Iranian and Russian officials.

The visiting Iranian official will also hold meetings with other officials of the Russian research centers and Syria's political officials.

Ansari arrived in Moscow on Tuesday for meetings with Russian officials as part of regular bilateral consultations on cooperation to help end the six-year-old Syria war.
