Iran, Azerbaijan to cooperate in translation of literary works

Baku, Aug 1, IRNA – Iran’s Cultural Office in Azerbaijan Republic signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Translation and Publication Center of the country’s Union of Writers on Monday.

The document was inked by Iran’s Cultural Attache Asghar Farsi and Salim Babollah Oghli who is in charge of the Translation and Publication Center in a ceremony attended by the Head of the Azerbaijan Union of Writers Anar Rezayev.

The MoU includes mutual cooperation in various fields such as translation of ancient and contemporary literature, publication of special letters, studying documents, exchange of scientific delegations, researchers and writers.

In line with the implementation of the MoU, both sides agreed that Azerbaijan Union of Writers translate and publish 30 works by the Iranian contemporary poets such as Nima Yushij, Sohrab Sepehri and Qeisar Aminpour.

Iran’s cultural attaché described signing the deal as helpful in promoting mutual cooperation in the field of rendering and publishing.

Babollah Oghli, for his part, voiced interest of Translation and Publication Center of Azerbaijan Union of Writers in cooperation for mutually introducing the two countries’ poets and literati, saying that a book titled ‘Where is Friend’s House’ encompassing Azeri version of works by 30 Iranian contemporary poets will soon be published.
