Zarif due in Germany, Italy: Foreign Ministry

Tehran, June 25, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Zavad Zarif is scheduled to have a trip to Germany and Italy on Monday to hold talks with European officials in the two countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said.

On the first leg of his European tour, Zarif is to arrive in Berlin on Monday morning, Qasemi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday.

While in Germany, the Iranian Foreign Minister will meet German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, his German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel and other German officials.

Zarif is also expected to discuss development of bilateral relations, the Middle East issue and latest developments in Europe, he added.

Zarif is expected to arrive in Italy on Tuesday evening on the second leg of the tour, Qasemi said.

During the Italy tour, Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, his Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano and other officials, he noted.

Iran’s top diplomat will examine regional developments and the issue of Syria in his meeting with the Italian officials, he added.
