Police Chief: One of terrorists under interrogation

Tehran, June 8, IRNA -- Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said on Thursday that one of the terrorists who was part of yesterday’s terrorist attacks in Tehran has been arrested and is under interrogation.

Speaking to reporters on the sideline of his visit to the injured people who have been hospitalized at Valeiasr hospital, he said all terrorists were killed or have been arrested and fortunately security forces stationed at Imam Khomeini mausoleum vigilantly killed two terrorists on the spot.

Such terrorist operations never weaken will of 'our nation and security forces', but will make us more courageous in dealing with them, he said.

Yesterday’s terrorist attack to Majlis was a big lesson for those seeking to promote insecurity in the country, he said.

Three policemen who suffered minor injuries were sent to the medical centers for treatment, he said.

Police is to intensify security of sensitive centers to prevent reoccurrence of such incidents, he said.

In an apparently coordinated attempt, two terrorist groups attacked mausoleum of the late Imam Khomenini, southern Tehran, and the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) on Wednesday morning killing 17 people and injuring 52 others.

One of the attackers blew up himself outside Imam Khomeini shrine.

The terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the fatal attacks in Tehran.

One of the terrorist was gunned down by the security forces and the other one exploded himself at the mausoleum.

Terrorists entered the Parliament building while they had dressed as women, said a security official.

Parliament operation ended by security forces who killed the terrorists.
