Irish official hopes Embassy to open in Tehran soon

London, May 4, IRNA – Irish Minister of State for Employment and Small Businesses Pat Breen said on Tuesday that he would be able to reopen Irish Embassy in Tehran during his upcoming visit to the capital at the head economic and trade delegation in near future.

Breen made the remarks in a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador in Dublin Javad Kachoueian on Tuesday, when both officials discussed mutual cooperation and major regional and international issues.

Irish minister described Iran as a significant and strategic country in the region which boasts of extensive capacities in different fields, hoped that the Irish companies would take advantage of the country’s capacities in various sectors, agriculture, industry, academy and IT.

Breen expressed pleasure over presence of a delegation from Iran’s Forensic and Traditional Medicine Organization in Dublin, hoping that the trip would be able to clear the way for mutual cooperation in herbal medicine and traditional medicine sectors.

Kachoueian, for his part, said that Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has created dramatic changes in Iran's relations ties with the world.

He also called on Irish companies to play an active role in promoting economic and trade collaboration between the two countries.

Hailing the role of Breen in consolidating mutual ties both as chairman of foreign relations commission and new post, Iranian ambassador described his upcoming visit as a major step in line with boosting bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, major regional and international developments, including issues of the Middle East and East Asia, the need for countering terrorism, Irish internal policies, challenges faced by the country in the Brexit process.

Irish government closed down its embassy in Tehran in 2011 in line with reducing governmental costs.
