Rouhani says country should remain on path of moderation

Tehran, April 30, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani says in order for the country to alleviate its problems, it should keep on the path of moderation.

President Rouhani speaking Saturday evening on the Channel One's “Camera” program of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), said that by having hope, exercising prudence and making efforts 'we can address all the problems faced by the country'.

The Iranian President said that after his election in 2013 and the formation of his cabinet, the government had to resolve five major problems.

“The first major issue needed to be addressed was the nuclear talks and bringing to an end international sanctions against the country,” he said.

“The second problem was the rampant inflation rate while the third main problem was propping up production in the country.

According to the President, his government also was committed to increasing people’s purchasing power as well as easing their access to information and global technology.

To resolve these problems, the government took appropriate preliminary steps, President Rouhani said.

In the ending month of 2013 and a few months after the election of the eleventh government, Iran and six world powers reached a preliminary agreement to continue with nuclear talks while the world powers agreed not to impose further sanctions on the Islamic Republic, he said.

“At that time the government called on world powers to speak to Iran using the language of respect and the world started to pay heed, and nuclear talks went on along the right path” President Rouhani said.

After the nuclear agreement, the ground was prepared for Iran to resume economic activities, he said.

“Now, after three and a half years, there is enough in the country for the world to rely on Iran,” he said.

Rouhani along with Mostafa Aqa-Mirsalim, Es'haq Jahangiri, Ebrahim Raeisi, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, and Mostafa Hashemi-Taba, is one of the candidates standing for the 12th presidential elections due to be held on May 19.
