Pakistan condemns terrorist attack against Iranian border guards

Islamabad, April 27, IRNA – Pakistan condemned the recent terrorist attack against Iranian border guards near Iran-Pakistan border line in which at least 9 Iranian border guards were martyred while patrolling at the border.

The loss of lives is something on which we should not only be condemning but also condoling with the families of those who had lost their lives, Pakistan foreign ministry spokesperson Nafees Zakaria told IRNA correspondent at a news briefing on Thursday.

Nine Iranian border guards were martyred by terrorists in Mirjaveh region, in southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on April 26 while patrolling at the zero border point. The terrorists fled to Pakistan’s territories after killing the Iranian border guards.

Iran said Islamabad should be accountable for the presence of terrorists in its soil.

“Islamabad should be accountable for the presence of terrorist groups in its soil and for the outlaw groups operation against Iran from its territory,” said spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi on Thursday reacting to the terrorist incident.

More in the press conference, the spokesman of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, referred to a newly-ended visit to Iran by Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and described it very useful and successful.

He said that the visit would definitely further strengthen Tehran-Islamabad relations.

He went on to say that the high level visit is part of mechanism which is in place between the two countries to strengthen relations at various levels in all areas.

The official added that parliamentary delegation exchanges regularly take place between the two countries which not only provide strength to existing relations but also give direction to the relationship.
