Iranian minister discuss promotion of ties with Kenyan counterpart

Tehran, July 22, IRNA – Iranian Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Ali Tayyebnia discussed promotion of relations with his Kenyan counterpart Henry Rotich.

Tayyebian and Rotich conferred ways of expansion of relations in a meeting held on Thursday on the sidelines of the 14th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Nairobi of Kenya.

Referring to 57-million-dollar trade exchange between Iran and Kenya, Iranian economy minister called for enhancement of trade exchange and cooperation between the two states.

He said that there are good potentials for cooperation between Iran and Kenya in fields of agriculture, energy, oil, gas as well as construction of dam, power plants and refineries.

The Kenyan finance minister for his part welcomed promotion of cooperation between Nairobi and Tehran.

He pointed to exploration of new oil reserves in Kenya and called for Iran cooperation for exploration of oil and construction of refineries in the African country.

The official accepted Tayyebnia's invitation for visiting Iran, heading a delegation of private and state sector particularly representatives of banking sector.

Ali Tayyebnia, heading a delegation, arrived in Nairobi on Monday morning to attend the 14th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Ministers and senior officials from 194 countries attended the conference.
