Salehi rules out buying used reactor from Bulgaria

Tehran, July 17, IRNA – Head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi on Sunday ruled out buying second-hand reactors from Bulgaria for Bushehr power plant, saying that the issue is totally wrong because a nuclear reactor could never be second-hand.

Of course, Bulgarians were scheduled to build two nuclear power plants in their own country in cooperation with Russia but they stopped the project due to financial problems, Salehi said.

Therefore, Bulgaria is ready to sell certain brand new and unused equipment at a suitable price, he said, noting, 'We are studying the issue.'

Salehi also hoped that Russia would start operations to build two nuclear power plants in Bushehr this year.

He also announced construction project of a nuclear hospital in Iran with the help of the European states, adding that all financial phases regarding the project have been completed.

Once completed, the hospital will be a unique project in West Asia, he said.

Referring to selling heavy water to US, Salehi said that Iran first received its money and then delivered the consignment.

Salehi took part in a Majlis session earlier on Sunday to brief the Iranian MPs on the Iran nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
