Five medals for Iran taekwondo team in Greece int'l tournament

Tehran, June 12, IRNA – Iranian athletes on Saturday managed to snatch five medals in the second day of the open 2016 international taekwondo tournament held in Thessaloniki, Greece.

By bagging four gold and one silver medals, the number of medals won by the Iranian squad reached five on the second day of the competition.

Members of the Iranian taekwondo squad preparing themselves for 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games competed at the WTF G1 Ranking international tournament in Greece for the technical staff to evaluate their performances.

The sixth edition of Greece’s international tournament convened from June 10-12 with the Iranian team comprising Armin Hadipour(-54kg), Farzan Ashourzadeh (-58kg), Mehdi Khodabakhshi (-80kg), Sajjad Mardani (+87kg) as well as Kimia Alizadeh (-57kg).

Hadipour, Ashourzadeh, Khodabakhshi and Alizadeh won Iran's gold medals and Mardani won the silver medal during the event which was held in senior, junior and cadet categories.
