Ministry of Petroleum quoted Ardebili as saying that Iran encourages producers to launch collective efforts, including continued consultations, voicing its support for it.
He said the January 2016 Doha session, attended by a number of oil producers aiming to stabilize the output levels , ended after 14 hours of intensive talks without any concrete results.
He added that the April 17 session in Doha was the result of joint efforts by Qatar and Venezuela and invitation extended to Saudi Arabia by Russia and the agreement reached among the four countries to stabilize oil production to the level of January 2016 as well as consultations of Qatar and Venezuela with Iran and Iraq in Tehran or with many other producers.
He went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the move as the first step to stabilize the oil market, emphasizing special conditions set by Iran to attain the production quota devised before the tyrannical sanctions were imposed on Iran.
He noted that all those countries, that concentrated their efforts on failure of Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks so that the unjust international sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran could remain in place, are now trying to stop Iran from regaining. The group of states proposed stabilization of the members' production in January 2016 on the illusion that Iran will have no choice but to voluntarily accept the offer.
The Iranian envoy said that in bilateral and multi-lateral talks as well as in intra-organizational official correspondences, Iran has emphasized its principled position of return to the output level before the sanctions.
Iran's stance was welcomed by majority of the OPEC and non-OPEC members while supporting joint efforts of the members to stabilize the oil market, said Ardebili.
