Ali Parvin elected as best football coach since Islamic Revolution

Tehran, April 5, IRNA – In an opinion poll carried out by a popular sports show on Iranian TV Channel 3, Ali Parvin was elected as the best football coach since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Over 1,600,000 people took part in the poll in which 64.3 percent of the participants said they believed Parvin had been the best footbball coach in Iran in the past 3 decades.

The sports show 90 (Navad) is the most popular weekly television program broadcast by Iran's Channel 3.

The program mostly shows events and news related to football and interviews with famous local and foreign football players and officials.

Ali Parvin, nicknamed 'Soltan' (The King), was born 12 October 1946 in Tehran, Iran.

He is a retired Iranian football player and coach. During his career, he was mainly associated with Persepolis, a popular football club in Tehran.

He played for Persepolis for eighteen years and managed the club for seventeen years in three occasions.

Due to his works for Persepolis, the club named him as one of the twelve great players of Persepolis in the 1970s.

He was also elected as one of the seventeen Asian football elites by Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
