Minister: Iran, Georgia need to boost trade ties

Tehran, March 12, IRNA -- Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei in a meeting with Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister underlined that Tehran and Tbilisi can increase the volume of their economic exchanges fourfold.

'The volume of trade exchanges between the two countries stands at $100 million at present which can be increased by three to four times,' Rabiei said in a meeting with David Jalagania in Tehran on Saturday.

The Iranian labor minister said that Iran and Georgia have common cultural background which can boost their economic relations in different fields.

Jalagania, for his part, said that Iran and Georgia can cooperate in three areas of trade, tourism and transit of goods.

'Georgia is ready to provide services to over 90,000 tourists every year; we can also send our tourists to Iran,' he added.
