Deputy FM: Terrorists should not be allowed to exploit negotiation table

Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday that terrorists should not be allowed to exploit negotiation table and enter Geneva talks by changing their face.

Amir-Abdollahian was speaking during a phone conversation with UN Special Envoy for Syria Steffan de Mistura.

He reaffirmed Iran's support for intra-Syrian talks in Geneva, saying it is the Syrian people that will finally determine their own destiny.

Terrorists will have no place in Syria and only the Syrian people have the right to decide about the future of the country, Amir-Abdollahian said.

Meanwhile, the UN envoy said that discussing the political procedure, establishment of ceasefire, humanitarian measures and fighting terrorism are main agendas of Geneva talks.

Referring to his Saturday meeting with the representatives of the Syrian government, de Mistura hailed Iran's role in the campaign against terrorism.

Apart from the opposition groups introduced by Tehran and Moscow, a delegation of opposition groups introduced by Riyadh will arrive in Geneva tonight, he said.
