Minister: Italy, France to help Iran renovate its railway networks

Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA – Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi said that negotiations had been held with Italian and French officials for renovation of Iranian railway networks during recent visits to those countries.

He said during negotiations Iran tried to speed up renovation of its railway networks through scheme of rent and rent on condition of ownership.
Akhundi made the remarks here on the sidelines of the first specialized conference on rail-based urban planning.
The minister said that 'To launch express train services using cheap facilities we have negotiated with Chinese and Europeans, which hopefully would reach desirabel results.'
He said 'All in all we held good negotiations with other sides, which have not yet lead to signing any contracts.'
