A boat with six crew members rescued in Persian Gulf

Abadan, Jan 30, IRNA – Following emergence of engine dysfunction in a cargo boat (locally known as Lenj) in Persian Gulf somewhere close to Norouz oil platform, the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Center (MRCC) in economic special region of Imam Port dispatched its rescue team to the venue.

Deputy Head of Khuzestan Province Ports and Shipping Department Abutaleb Grylo announced the news here on Saturday.

During rescue operation of the boat, which was navigating from one of the southern littoral states of the Persian Gulf toward Daylam Port, in Iran, the MRCC prepared necessary functions for rescue of the boat and its six crews, which was in night time.

The MRCC also rescued life of 14 sailors in two separate operations in December 2015 in the Persian Gulf.

Norouz oil field is in 93 kilometers to the northwest of Kharg Island.
