Official: No talks of Russia returning to Azar oil field

Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA – Managing Director of Iran’s Petroleum Engineering and Development Company Abdolreza Hosseininejad said there are no negotiations being held regarding Russians returning to Azar oil field.

Answering a question by IRNA, he said the Russian contractors could sign deals to develop Changouleh oil field.

He further said that no contracts have been signed with Chinese firms to develop the second phase of west Karoun oil fields because they demanded an unusually big amount for the task.

As for the status of Chinese contractors in Iran oil industry, the official said the Chinese companies rushed to Iran’s help in hard times and are considered Iran’s strategic partners.

He said Iran never intended to set Chinese firms aside from its oil field development projects.
