National boxer Mehrabi refuses asylum claim

Boroujerd, Lorestan Prov, Jan 30, IRNA – Iranian boxer Sajjad Mehrabi refused claims that he had been seeking asylum in China.

Talking to IRNA on Saturday, Mehrabi said he is in Tehran now and will hold a meeting with officials of Iran's Boxing Federation within hours.

About his recent travel to China, Mehrabi said the officials of the boxing federation were informed of it.

China trip took place after the related officials at the federation gave permission, he said.

Asked if he has been excluded from the national team, the Iranian boxer responded that there is no problem regarding that issue.

About a month ago, two national Iranian boxers Sajjad Mehrabi left for China to do some preparation excersises there for 20 to 30 days.

Spokesman for Iran's Boxing Federation Ali Reza Daneshmandfar commented on the trip of the two boxers saying they were on furlough for a month under the supervision of the team's manager.
