Indian cleric condemns attack on Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia

New Delhi, Jan 30, IRNA - Cleric and secretary general of Majlis Ulema-e-Hind condemned terrorist attack on a Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia that killed at least four people.

In a statement, Maulana Kalbe Jawad said the attack had been supported by the US, Israel and the enemies of Islam.

A suicide bomb and gun attack on Shia Friday prayers killed at least four people in eastern Saudi Arabia, the interior ministry said, expressing the number of wounded at about 18.

In his statement, the Indian cleric expressed sympathy with the families of the dead, stressing that such moves that kill innocent people are aimed at sowing discord in the world of Islam.

He further strongly criticized Saudi Arabia for its extremist measures, adding support for terrorists and extremists will trigger such terrorist attacks.

Referring to the execution of the prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr by Saudi government on January 2, the Indian cleric said such measures taken by Saudi Arabia indicate that Riyadh is on the verge of collapse.
