Qatar demands UNSC to oblige Israel to halt illegal practices against Palestinians

Tehran, Jan 28, IRNA – Qatar demanded the UN Security Council to compel Israel to respect the provisions of the international law and the international humanitarian law, and to reject all the practices and illegal actions carried out by the Israeli authorities in the occupied territories, stressing the need to take measures to stop such practices and provide international protection for the Palestinian people.

This came in Qatar's statement delivered Tuesday by Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed Al-Thani before the UN Security Council meeting on the 'Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestine Question'.
In the fulfillment of its humanitarian commitments, Qatar has so far carried out projects worth $230 million for Gaza's reconstruction, the statement said, Qatar News Agency reported.
The statement warned of the Israeli continued violations in the Palestinian territories, including the unilateral measures, settlement activities, the Gaza blockade, restrictions on access to the holy places in Jerusalem and other violations that are contrary to the UN resolutions and the provisions of the international law. It also called on the Security Council to work effectively to achieve tangible progress in the peace process.
