North Korea may be preparing for missile launch: Japan gov't source

Tehran, Jan 28, IRNA- North Korea may be preparing to fire a long-range ballistic missile from its northwestern launch site, a Japanese government source said Wednesday.

The source cited satellite imagery analysis conducted over the past several days and cautioned that the launch could occur in about a week at the earliest.

Signs of the apparent preparations for a missile launch from Dongchang-ri come while U.N. Security Council members envisage toughening sanctions against Pyongyang following its fourth nuclear test on Jan. 6 in defiance of past Security Council resolutions, according to KYODO News.

The reclusive country's supposed action could be aimed at flouting the Security Council and any plans among its members to tighten sanctions over the latest nuclear detonation.

On December 10, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said that North Korea had a hydrogen bomb and was ready to use it to protect its sovereignty.
