Zarif sees Iranian President's Italy visit as new chapter of close ties

Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described President Hassan Rouhani's visit to Rome as opening a new chapter of close cooperation with Italy.

Zarif made that description on his twitter page.

'Opening a new chapter of close cooperation with Italy- both in economy and trade, and in combating extremism,' Zarif wrote on his page.

The Iranian President heading a high-ranking delegation arrived in Rome, Italy, on Monday to hold talks with top Italian officials on various international and bilateral issues.

President Rouhani also met with Pope Francis in Vatican City on Tuesday.

It was the first meeting of an Iranian president with leader of the Catholic Christians after 16 years.
