Chinese FM: Xi's visit deepens traditional friendship and practical co-op

Tehran, Jan 25, IRNA – Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the Middle East deepened traditional friendships and practical cooperation of Beijin with the regional states, Chinese foreign minister said.

According to the Chinese CCTV, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during his briefing to the media about President Xi's visit to the Middle East on Sunday.

Wang said it was a successful stroke of diplomacy that deepened China's traditional friendship and practical cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iran and contributed to regional reconciliation, peace and development.

Chinese foreign minister added that Xi's Middle East tour also contributed to the time-honoured exchanges between the ancient Chinese and Islamic civilizations and consolidated mutual understanding between the Chinese and Middle Eastern peoples.

Xi and the leaders of the three nations agreed to align their countries' development blueprints and pursue mutually beneficial cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, which comprises the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
