Serbian Archbishop welcomes removal of anti-Iran economic sanctions

Belgrade, Jan 23, IRNA - Serbian Orthodox Church Archbishop Patriarch Irinej in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Belgrade Majid Fahimpour welcomed lifting of unfair economic sanctions against Iran.

In the meeting, the two sides exchange views on various plots hatched by colonial powers to trample upon people's rights and underlined that no fire will rage for ever and some day this policy will backfire.
War should be regarded as the worst phenomenon in the world and terrorists under the guise of religions commit crimes and treason, said the Archbishop.
He expressed the hope that removal of sanctions will lead to expansion of economic relations and cooperation, people's welfare. He aksi lauded the principled stands adopted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in backing the territorial integrity of Serbia.
The Iranian ambassador, for his part, highlighted regional developments along with the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and its impacts on regional developments.
He also submitted a copy of the letter addressed to the Youths in western states by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and said removal of economic sanctions will help improve status of the global economy.
