Tehran, Jan 23, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that Iran's relations with China is of high significance.

Addressing a joint press conference with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Saturday, President Rouhani said Iran and China on Saturday talked about bilateral strategic relations, regulating 25-year comprehensive document and upgrading mutual ties in the next 10 years to the level of $600 billion.
He said he was much happy that the Chinese President had welcomed his invitation and is today his guest.
'Relations with China is of high importance for us both historically for having a 2000-year background and for close stances shared by the two governments on global issues and extensive bilateral cooperation and mutual interests in expansion of bilateral relations.'
'We are happy that this visit takes place at a very suitable historical juncture after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of and today we reviewed all bilateral, regional and international issues.'Action (JCPOA) and in the post-sanction era and we can sign final document on the basis of mutual interest. That's the fifth round of talks between the two presidents in 2.5 years after lengthy talks in Bishkek, Jakarta and New York
He noted that financial and banking issues, the credit necessary for investment by the two sides' entrepreneurs in each other's territory, long-term energy contracts and investment in the mining and energy sectors were discussed in open and private sessions.
He asserted that there were talks on economic issues as well as scientific, new technology, cultural, tourism, security and defense subjects.
The two sides also discussed more emphatically such topics as terrorism, campaign against extremism and violence and regional disputes.
Bringing about stability and security in the Middle East region and consultation and assistance to the countries afflicted with terrorism such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Yemen and sharing of information on campaign against terrorism were among other issues discussed, said President Rouhani, adding that unilateralism, global issues, potential threats as well as long-term and important targets of Iran and China in the region were also reviewed in the discussions.
'I consider the important visit of Chinese President along with a high-ranking delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran an important historical event and surely, a new chapter has opened in Iran-China relations from now on.'
He added, 'Once again I welcome the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping and his accompanying delegation to Iran.'
The Chinese president arrived in Tehran on Friday evening.

Xi's Tehran visit took place after 14 years when the then Chinese president Jiang Zemin flew to Iran.

In the statement, the two presidents announced that they have reached an agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership in all international, regional and bilateral issues.

The joint Tehran-Beijing statement also included a road map for deepening of bilateral relations in different fields.

Earlier, top Iranian and Chinese officials inked 17 agreements and documents on bilateral cooperation on Saturday morning.
