As Iran has remained committed to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control over the past recent years, smoking cigarettes has been partly brought under control, she said, adding that Iran is one of the leading countries among Middle East countries in this regard.
However, she expressed concern over smoking hookah by Iranian youth, particularly the girls.
If Iran wants to have a healthy society, it has to prevent consumption of tobacco, especially hookah, by its young people, she said.
