Iran offers to help Iraq fight terrorism

Baghdad, Jan 20, IRNA – Iran offered the Iraqi government to help fight terrorism, head of Majlis Research Center Kazem Jalali said on Wednesday.

He said that terrorism has strongly damaged Islamic world and it is necessary that all Islamic states get united and by their own capabilities to firmly confront the threat.
He said that parliaments of the Islamic countries would approve necessary budgets for fight against terrorism to help their respective governments play effective role in international campaign against terrorism.
Asked whether Iran has a serious partner among Islamic states to fight terrorism? Jalali said that answer is difficult, because a number of countries fight terrorism, but, they support them as well.
He said that many of Islamic countries are indifferent toward terrorism and several of them prefer to keep silent before the states supporting terrorism.
Of course, several governments take suitable political stances concerning danger of terrorism, but, they are not serious in practice.
International coalitions were not successful in fight against terrorism, so it is necessary that Islamic countries get united in this concern, he added.
The 11th Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Conference is underway in Baghdad from January 20 to 25. Some 40 countries from 54 Islamic states have participated in the conference.
